High School Parents Only: Report Card Update
Sent: April 21, 2009
As you are aware, our High School is using a new grade-reporting and student information software system. These systems have been designed to, when fully integrated, revolutionize the way we, as a school, communicate with parents. As communicated in the April edition of the Knightline, these programs will allow almost instant notification of student grade updates on an individual or whole-class basis. Homework and other pertinent information will be available, once the programs are fully implemented. Integrating every aspect of these programs takes time and experience with the programs.
As a result, this year has been, in many ways, a pilot program. Since September, our teachers have been introduced to new grade-reporting software, which in many ways is much different than what had been used in the past. In addition, we have been attempting to mesh the new report card and student information system with the new grade-reporting software. This attempt has caused numerous difficulties throughout the year. Unfortunately, we have encountered yet another difficulty with the Third Marking Period’s report cards. Even after much work by the administrative staff in ensuring reporting accuracy, several report cards have incorrect grades on them. It is quite possible that some of these errors will impact honor roll status. Please rest assured that the administrative staff and the teachers are working hard to not only correct the report cards, but identify and fix the causes of the underlying problem.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time of transition. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
