Dear SJNRA Families:
Our school relies heavily on the funds raised through our various sporting concession stands to help defray the cost of sports uniforms and equipment for our SJNRA teams. The primary source of income that is generated for the athletic program is from the Soccer and Basketball concession operations. During the past three years, the Neumann Parent Athletic Association (NPAA) has raised over $14,000 in order to help purchase uniforms and equipment FOR ALL the SJNRA sports teams. This financial support also helps keep the tuition fees reasonable.
The NPAA relies on the parents of players to provide food for the concession stand, work at the concession stand and at the door for sports that their children are involved in. Each family of a St. John Neumann basketball player (boys’ and girls’ junior high, JV and Varsity) must commit to at least three nights working the concession stand or the door at our home games.
Even with this mandate, the number of volunteers needed this year is greater than previous years due to additional home games scheduled. With the busy girls’ and boys’ JV/Varsity Basketball season just beginning, we are having trouble securing enough help to work the door and concession stand at our home games.
In working with the Neumann Parent Athletic Association, the SJNRA Fundraising Committee recently approved allowing the hours worked at the concession stand and door of a home sporting event to count towards the mandatory 10-hour volunteer commitment the Fundraising Committee requires of all SJNRA families, Pre-K-12th grade. One hour worked at either the door or the concession stand counts for one hour towards your 10-hour commitment. Most of the time slots are for either one or two hour shifts.
When you volunteer for either the door or a concession stand, we ask that you also donate a food item to sell. Some items that seem to sell well include soups, macaroni and cheese, pizza, barbeque sandwiches, pasta, meatball sandwiches, cookies, and pierogies. Please note, though, that we will accept any food donations that you are generous enough to bring with you.
If you haven’t yet fulfilled your 10 volunteer hours to the Academy, this is a great opportunity to get you started. Family members, relatives, friends or high school students can volunteer to represent you on any date you are scheduled to work. You’ll meet lots of friendly people and have the chance to help out with this important fundraising opportunity for our St. John Neumann Knights. If you can volunteer, please contact Kathy Notor at 494-1356 or
TKMKM@chilitech.net, or Kevin Way at
kway@lyco.org and they will give you open dates and times. Thank you so much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
The Neumann Parent Athletic Association & the SJNRA Fundraising Committee
