2010-11 JV/Varsity Girls Basketball Meeting:
For SJNRA girls currently in grades 8-11: There will be a meeting with any prospective girls JV/Varsity basketball players on Tuesday, May 18th at 3:00 pm in the HS gym. The coaches will be discussing plans regarding summer league games, tournaments, open gyms and possible camps.
SJNRA Spanish Students Win National and Regional Acclaim:
Congratulations to students from St. John Neumann Regional Academy who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2010 National Spanish Examinations. Students from St. John Neumann earned a total of one gold medal, two bronze medals and four honorable mentions. James Gibbons, freshman, earned the Gold Award. Sophomores Gregory Kist and Jacob Hiserman earned Bronze Awards. Freshman Joe Pierce, Sophomores Emily Reid and Zachary Buchheit and Junior Karissa Stone earned Honorable Mentions.
At the Regional level, Rio Bravo is the local AATSP (American Assoc. of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) Chapter which gives out monetary awards to high achieving students. Gibbons earned the Rio Bravo First Place $50 award; Pierce earned the Rio Bravo Second Place $40 award, and Freshman Katherine Mertes earned the Rio Bravo Third Place $30 award.
Parents' Program:
All SJNRA parents are invited to attend the "Cyber Bullying and Internet Predators" presentation, to be held on Tuesday, May 18 from 7-8 pm in the HS cafeteria.
Odyssey of the Mind Presentation:
Please come out and support the three SJNRA Odyssey of the Mind teams that are bound for World Finals at Michigan State University later this month. They will be presenting their solutions on Friday, May 21 at 7:15 pm at the High School Gymnasium. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Good luck to the teams as they prepare for World Finals!
Sports Awards Ceremonies:
The Junior High Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, 16 May 2010 at 2:00 PM in the school gym. Snacks, beverages and pizza will be provided for the athletes, coaches and parents. The Coaches and Principal will present the appropriate awards to the athletes. There will be no cost for the Junior High Awards Ceremony.
For all the Varsity and JV sports teams, the awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, 23 May 2010 at 4:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall in Montoursville. This will be a sit down dinner and seating is limited to approximately 250 individuals. There will be no cost to the athletes. However to insure each athlete is committed to attend and they have an accurate number for the caterer, the athletes will be required to pay a $5.00 deposit when they pick up their ticket. Upon arrival at the awards ceremony, they will be refunded their $5.00 deposit. If they do not attend the awards ceremony, no refund will be issued.
Parents that are attending the Varsity/JV Awards Ceremony will be required to pay $5.00, with no refund at the door. Tickets for family members and athletes need to be purchased at the High School office. The deadline to purchase the Varsity/JV Awards Ceremony tickets is Wednesday, May 19. Please purchase your tickets soon, as seating is limited.
